Who we are
Toronto Zoo Info is an independent, non-commercial, educational project about the Toronto Zoo. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Toronto Zoo or the City of Toronto. Because the project has no commercial purpose, it has no accounts, no checkout, no newsletter and no registrations. Operator details are on the Legal Notice page.
Information we collect
- From you: nothing. No form on this website submits data to us.
- Automatically: one value - "accepted" or "declined" - saved to your browser's local storage when you interact with the consent banner, so it is not shown again. It stays on your device and is never transmitted.
- What we deliberately do not use: no analytics or statistics services, no social media pixels, no first-party cookies, no fingerprinting, no session recording. The only third-party scripts are the Google Fonts stylesheet and, when advertising is enabled, Google AdSense (Section 10).
Cookies and local storage
This website sets no first-party cookies of its own. The only client-side storage is the consent preference described above - remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website. Third-party advertising cookies (Google AdSense) are described in Section 10.
No sale of personal data
We never sell, rent, trade or share personal data with third parties, for money or otherwise. There is nothing to sell: the website has no commercial activity of its own. Advertising partners (Google AdSense) receive no personal data from us - their cookies are set and read by Google under its own privacy policy (Section 10).
Third-party links
Pages contain links to reputable external websites: the official Toronto Zoo site, Wikipedia, the IUCN Red List, the City of Toronto, Parks Canada, CAZA, the AZA and the TTC. These organizations operate their own sites with their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Read their policies before giving them personal information.
Children's privacy
This is a general-audience educational resource. We knowingly collect no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
We hold no visitor profiles or databases, so there is no personal data of yours for us to access, correct or delete. The consent preference on your device can be removed by clearing site data. If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection law (GDPR, CCPA or similar), these rights are preserved in full as described.
Data retention
The consent preference is retained on your device until you clear it. No server-side visitor data is retained by this project.
Changes to this policy
If the website's behaviour ever changes, this page will be updated with a new "Last updated" date. Changes will never introduce the sale or sharing of personal data.

To cover hosting costs, this website may display advertising served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising network.
- Advertising cookies. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies - including the DoubleClick DART cookie - to serve ads to you based on your visit to this website and/or other websites on the Internet.

- No data sale. This project does not sell, rent or share personal data with advertisers and earns no commission on advertised products.
